Alexandra “Alex” Gallardo-Rooker, ALZA Campaigns

Born in Mexico City, ALZA Campaigns co-owner and partner Ms. Alexandra Gallardo-Rooker is an accomplished leader in Democratic politics and campaigns at both the national and state levels.

Ms. Gallardo-Rooker’s stellar record as a union and Democratic Party leader, and in electoral politics, issue advocacy, and political campaigns has helped elect candidates to all levels of office and won passage of landmark public policy on a broad range of issues including worker’s rights, healthcare, technology, and the environment.

Serving as Acting Chair of the California Democratic Party, Treasurer for the Association of State Democratic Committees, numerous leadership roles at the Democratic National Committee including as trusted advisor for DNC Chairs Howard Dean and Tom Perez, and serving as Vice-Chair of the California Democratic Party since 1997, Ms. Gallardo-Rooker has been a champion for Democratic candidates and causes for her entire career.

The recipient of the “Si Se Puede Award for Distinguished Service” from the Los Angeles Chapter of Labor Council for Latin American Advancement, Ms. Gallardo-Rooker led efforts to expand voter registration and participation among disenfranchised voters resulting in historic electoral wins in California boosting Democratic Party majorities in both houses, and helping Democrats win every statewide constitutional office since 2010.

As the first Latina to lead a major political party in California, Ms. Gallardo-Rooker set new fundraising records in her first six months serving as Acting Chair, led the most diverse Democratic Party State Party Convention in California history, and established a historic partnership between the CDP and Univision to co-host a Democratic Presidential Forum in 2019.

Josh Pulliam, ALZA Campaigns

President of JPM+M and co-founder of ALZA Campaigns, Josh Pulliam has helped engineer victories in more than 150 successful candidate campaigns, independent expenditures, and ballot measures in California, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Florida, New Mexico, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Louisiana integrating research, innovative targeting, and creative message development to create winning campaigns.

Pulliam’s work helped pick up Democratic seats in seven consecutive election cycles, including supermajorities in California, Governor Jerry Brown, and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear. His campaigns include unprecedented victories and significant underdog campaigns in swing districts, electing more women and people of color to public office, and a new generation of leaders in California representing the ethnic and cultural diversity of the state.

One of the nation’s most experienced firms specializing in Latino/Hispanic targeting and bilingual messaging, Pulliam has produced more than $40 million in advertising targeting Latino audiences and developed a proprietary Spanish language preference model providing clients with an innovative tool to maximize impact in paid communications.

Roger Salazar, ALZA Campaigns

Roger Salazar, one of the nation’s most respected and experienced communications professionals, is the President of ALZA Strategies and co-founder of ALZA Campaigns

A former White House and Gubernatorial communications specialist, Salazar was previously the managing director of Mercury, a national bipartisan high-stakes public strategies firm. Prior to that, he was a partner at Acosta|Salazar LLC, a public affairs and political consulting firm, which was called “One of the More Sought After Firms in Sacramento” by Capitol Weekly. Earlier, he was senior vice president at the national public relations firm Porter Novelli.

Through ALZA Strategies, Salazar serves as political spokesman for the California Latino Legislative Caucus. Previously, Salazar served as principal officer for California Working Families for Jerry Brown 2010; spokesman for the California Democratic Party; political spokesman for Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez; campaign press secretary for Governor Gray Davis; and has served on the podium press team for the 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 Democratic National Conventions.

Salazar’s background includes experience as a media spokesperson, in English and Spanish, for prominent officials such as President Bill Clinton (White House); Vice-President Al Gore (White House/Gore 2000); U.S. Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman; and U.S. Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard. These experiences, along with his work directing national and statewide media advocacy efforts, make him an expert in strategic media communications.

Salazar was recognized multiple times by Capitol Weekly as one of the “Top 100 California Political Power Brokers”; one of the “Top 50 California Democratic Influencers” by Campaigns and Elections Magazine in 2010; and one of the “100 Most Influential Hispanics in America” by Hispanic Business Magazine.

Salazar is a member of the American Association of Political Consultants and the Public Relations Society of America. He is a graduate of the University of Redlands, where he currently serves on the University’s Board of Trustees. He also received a Master’s degree from the George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management.

Pat Dennis, ALZA Campaigns

Pat Dennis is the President of Street Level Strategy and partner at Alza Campaigns. Pat oversees strategy, grassroots organizing campaigns, and provides day-to-day management services for candidate, issue advocacy, trade association, and corporate clients.

Pat has nearly 20 years of experience as a grassroots and coalition-building strategist for labor, corporate, and non-profit clients across the nation. He has designed and managed scores of tailor made public affairs and political campaigns in over fifteen states, to meet objectives as diverse as internal member engagement, issue advocacy, customer engagement, voter persuasion, and new member recruitment.

Pat draws upon his extensive experience in campaign management, strategy, and
grassroots to deliver winning strategies clients. He is well known for a unique approach to grassroots advocacy campaigns that combine time-tested community organizing and coalition building tactics with cutting edge communications strategies that utilize microtargeting techniques, carefully honed messaging and the latest marketing methods to vastly increase the effectiveness of these programs.

Prior to joining founding Street Level Strategy, Pat directed grassroots operations for labor and independent expenditure committees in over 50 congressional races throughout the country and worked as an organizer for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
